* UCI Refugee Awareness Week presents Scholars at Risk: :
May 8, 5-7 pm, HIB 110. A critical discussion with Syrian scholar in exile, Amal Alachkar, and nationwide campaign coordinator, Shiyam Galyon, about their experiences and the importance of higher education for refugees.

From Passion to Action: Young Leaders in Refugee Relief: May 10, 6-10 pm, Crystal Cove. A screening of the award-winning film, Salam Neighbor, featuring two American filmmakers who document life in a Syrian refugee camp.
The film is immediately followed by a panel featuring Chris Temple and Zach Ingrasci, the filmís directors and producers, as well as Nada Hashem and Shiyam Galyon who are working to provide emergency aid and higher education for Syrian refugees respectively.
The night will be concluded with a private post-reception with the panelists. First 100 guests to RSVP are invited.

Speed Learning: Refugee Populations Globally: May 11, 5-7 pm, Emerald Bay D. Learn about different refugee populations worldwide through personal stories and insights from students who have worked in refugee camps, whose family members have been displaced by conflict, or who are refugees themselves. Opening plenary session is followed by 20 minute breakout sessions.

* UCI Office of Inclusive Excellence presents Fear Inc., Confronting Islamophobia in America: May 2, 6-7:30 pm., Irvine Barclay Theatre. Dr. Reza Aslan, an internationally renowned writer, brings his expansive worldview to UCI to deliver the second lecture in a campus-wide series that explores strategies to counter prejudice in present day.

* ASUCI presents Reclaim Mental Health Conference: May 6, 8 am, UCI Student Center. The Reclaim Mental Health Conference will feature workshops and student panels examining mental health through a sociopolitical lens. Admission is free for the two day event. Meals will be provided. Visit
